Watch My Needs (WMN) is a unique project, the brainchild of its Project Lead, Dr Rosie Tope, which focuses on the communications needs of people with dementia.
Originally funded by Big Lottery Wales and sponsored by ACE Cardiff in partnership with the Makaton charity and Nazareth House care home, WMN has developed a language, based on Makaton signs and symbols, which allows people with dementia and their families and carers to continue to communicate their needs as more conventional means become more of a challenge.
The second phase of the project is in the planning stage.
